I created this work, called American Psycho, the day Donald Trump won the US election.
I live part of the time in New York, so I have a great affinity with America, and felt horrified that a racist, misogynist, homophobe, who mocks the disabled, could be President.
I thought of the mindset of those who voted for him - either agreeing with his abhorrent views, or overlooking them for selfish reasons - as well as the hysteria he whipped up, encouraging violence amongst his supporters.
In the end, I settled for an image, and colours, that symbolise the darkness of this period and the bloodshed that may follow.
The papercut shows how an American black bear has come lumbering out of the backwoods to rip into the carcass of the USA under a full moon.
Though a self-initiated work, I am looking for commissions of a similar nature; boldly graphic and conceptual, with or without a political message.
