I'm honoured to have been declared a winner in the American Illustration Awards.
The judges voted by majority for my Courier Magazine front page, which celebrated the paper's anniversary alongside the blockbuster Mary Quant exhibition at the V&A in Dundee.
The main figure - bursting out of a vintage copy of the newspaper - is a much-loved Courier news vendor who worked in the city in the 60s. Clambering over him is Twiggy and other Quant models. I had to do a huge amount of picture research for this
collage commission - trawling through images from DC Thomson's archive and Quant's exhibition catalogue.
Once I had around 15 figures, it was enormous fun playing around with them to see how they would work with each other.
In honour of my win, the Courier Magazine did a special features spread on my life and work.
The Braw & The Brave Podcast also did an interview last week in which we talked about everything from burlesque to Noam Chomsky.
