The RSA has selected my work, Sea Sick, for its prestigious Open Exhibition.
The work – a comment on government inaction on refugees drowning in the Mediterranean – is on display in the academy’s main hall until Feb 14, 2016.
It’s such an honor to be selected for the Royal Scottish Academy’s Open Exhibition, as the competition is so fierce.
I wasn’t sure if such an overtly political work would go down well with the judges, but I’m delighted it was seen as a worthy addition.
The Scotsman newspaper included Sea Sick in its round-up of the best of the exhibition. It says: “Boo Paterson has also made a tornado, or at least a vortex, but out of cut paper. Unhappy figures caught up in its spiral suggest her title, Seasick."
